Senior Director of Marketing & Business Development
LabCentral, a launch pad for early-stage biotech companies in Cambridge, is seeking a strategic, creative, and results-driven Director of Marketing and Business Development to join our executive team. This role will be responsible for evolving and maintaining LabCentral’s leading position as the premier coworking facility for life-sciences startups through the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing and business development strategies to enhance brand visibility, drive revenue growth, and strengthen relationships with our clients, partners, and extended ecosystem stakeholders.
You’ll be a strong fit for this role if you have a Marketing, Corporate Communications, and/or Business Development background, plus 15+ years of client-side experience or working with an agency.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy Development and Execution:
- Work with the Creative Strategy team to develop and implement integrated marketing strategies to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to inform strategic decisions and drive business growth.
- Ideate with a deep understanding of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, working with socio-cultural expertise to build meaningful connections between various audiences and the LabCentral brand, including LabCentral Ignite.
Marketing Leadership:
- Build, manage, and coach an interdisciplinary creative strategy team – removing bottlenecks, developing their skills, identifying areas for growth potential, etc.
- Work alongside our Executive Leadership team and Partnerships function to ensure that strategic marketing initiatives are aligned with LabCentral’s larger business development goals.
- Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources in accordance with market direction and company performance while tracking ROI on marketing initiatives via data-informed analysis.
- Leveraging the power of data insights to oversee the creation and execution of marketing campaigns, content strategies, social media, PR, and events to drive innovation and promote brand awareness.
- Lead the messaging, positioning, and delivery of marketing experiences that target our customer base, providing regular metric-based reporting to leadership.
- Generate sustainable pipeline/lead channels informed by deep industry and market knowledge, based on business objectives with careful attention to audience segmentation and channel performance.
- Identify and secure opportunities to showcase LabCentral’s thought leadership including speaking engagements, conferences and trade shows, and related activities.
- Act as a connective tissue between Site Leads and functional teams to ensure consistency in execution of brand, marketing, and communication strategies across the LabCentral community.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS
- A professional degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Graphic Design, Journalism or a related field
- In-depth knowledge of brand development and multichannel marketing models.
- Extensive knowledge of marketing trends, techniques, and the ability to navigate the latest life sciences industry developments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and comfort interacting with the media on behalf of the organization
- Demonstrable experience creating marketing strategies and implementing effective plans, managing a sizable marketing budget and multi-disciplinary team.
- A minimum of 7 years’ digital experience, either on the client-side or with an agency, particularly with, but not limited to web, social, and emerging technology.
- A solid understanding of design, copy, and web practices including SEO, SEM, Google Analytics, etc., and familiarity with ESPs such as MailChimp and CMS and CRM management.
