Who are we?

About LabCentral:  

LabCentral is a Massachusetts non-profit company founded in 2013 as a launchpad for high-potential life sciences and biotech start-ups. Operating over 225,000 sq. feet in Cambridge and on the Harvard campus, LabCentral offers a network of laboratory spaces and scientific communities designed to jumpstart the launch of promising, early-stage life-sciences companies. LabCentral prepares entrepreneurs and scientists to accelerate scientific innovation in service of human health by providing best-in-class operational support, curated events and programming, and access to a diverse network of sponsors. LabCentral is also home to Gallery 1832 which engages the local community to celebrate artistic innovation. 

Our mission is to empower the next generation of biotech and life science innovators by creating opportunities that accelerate the development of breakthrough technology and therapies.

At LabCentral, we're not just a building; we're about fostering connections and empowering innovation. As part of our operations team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth experience for our residents and building a supportive community where everyone thrives.  

What will I do?  

Responsibilities:  

As an Operations Associate, you'll be the friendly face of LabCentral, spreading warmth and cheer to our residents and partners. Here's a glimpse of what your days will entail: 

• Craft lasting first impressions at the front desk activities by warmly welcoming guests, answering questions, and ensuring the reception area is as inviting as can be 
• Infuse our café space with a cozy vibe by keeping it well-stocked, maintaining inventory, and fostering connections. 
• Take pride in keeping our shared co-working areas, conference rooms, and public spaces in tip-top shape 
• Guide our newest residents through the onboarding process, helping them seamlessly integrate into our community 
• Respond to a wide array of questions or needs from residents and colleagues, such as basic IT support, event coordination, or troubleshooting an issue
• Proactively identify ways to improve the space, offerings, and experience of everyone
• Collaborate with teams across sites to uphold our signature LabCentral standards 

What will I bring?   

Desired qualifications: 

• At least one year of experience in a customer-facing role 
• A genuine interest in providing exceptional customer service, fostering connections, and spreading positivity 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Willingness to learn new technology and software
• Stellar time management and decision-making skills 
• Ability to communicate with warmth, clarity, and attention to detail
• A genuine interest in building relationships - understanding that cafes are not just about stocked shelves but also fostering meaningful interactions making everyone feel welcome
• Ability to anticipate needs before they arise and swooping in with solutions like a true problem-solving pro
• A curiosity-driven mindset, fueled by a passion for continuous learning and inspiration
• A team player mentality while also shining independently when needed
• A connector: bring vendors, partners, and residents together for memorable events that foster community spirit

Work environment:  

• Work onsite during regular business hours 
• Ability to sit for long periods, ability to move around an office environment, and ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand 
• Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds

Compensation 

Our compensation philosophy is intentional and researched to align with average market salaries; comprehensive, generous benefits to support overall well-being; and parity with our existing and future team members. Below details the value of what our compensation package may look like, but specific details pertaining to an individual will vary.    

Salary range: $52,000-56,000 along with the potential to earn a bonus of 6% based on company performance.   

Approximate monetary value of benefits (based off an individual – dependents increase value): $22,000.
