LabCentral is a Massachusetts non-profit company founded in 2013 as a launchpad for high-potential life sciences and biotech start-ups. Operating over 225,000 sq. feet in Cambridge and on the Harvard campus, LabCentral offers a network of laboratory spaces and scientific communities designed to jumpstart the launch of promising, early-stage life-sciences companies. LabCentral prepares entrepreneurs and scientists to accelerate scientific innovation in service of human health by providing best-in-class operational support, curated events and programming, and access to a diverse network of sponsors. What is the role? 

Do you enjoy snacks? Do you believe presentation matters? Do you enjoy contributing towards the smooth operation of a site?  

LabCentral is seeking an Operations Assistant, reporting to the Associate Manager. This role requires organizational skill, attention to detail, and a willingness to provide high-quality customer service along with marked attention to processes and systems. Bonus points if you straighten out gum packets when you’re standing in line at the grocery store while making friends with the person behind the counter. 

 What will I do?  

Responsibilities:  

  • Stock cafes throughout the day and regularly maintain coffee stations 
  • Ensure well maintained conference room spaces including supplying, organizing, and coordinating minor repairs 
  • Track and communicate low or out of stock inventory items 
  • Receive weekly deliveries of kitchen supplies from multiple vendors 
  • Keep stock room and cafes organized and supplied according to safe food handling practices 
  • Assist with tracking and submiting invoices/receipts for cafe deliveries 
  • Coordinate with vendors to schedule service for appliances as necessary 
  • Create a positive, welcoming, and consistent cafe experience 
  • Assist with the intake of packages by checking them into our system and organizing them in the mail room 
  • Report and help resolve customer service issues 
  • Additional support as appropriate to ensure smooth operations of the site

  • Display strong customer service skills and proactively find solutions to anticipated issues before they happen 
  • Adept at time management, organization, and decision-making skills  
  • Facilitate and engender relationships with residents, business partners, and vendors 
  • Love being part of a team while being capable of working independently 
  • Believe work and having fun can be synonymous 
  • Be curious, enjoy continuously learning, and tackle whatever comes your way  

In your first six months, you will:    

  • Immerse yourself in day-to-day site operations
  • Complete cross-training with the LabCentral teams across our various sites’ functions  
  • Develop an understanding of the LabCentral community and interact with residents
  • Learn our systems and provide feedback on how to do things better
  • Continue to build your skills and set goals for personal and professional growth

Work environment :  

  • Work onsite during regular business hours  
  • Ability to sit for long periods, ability to move around an office environment, and ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand  
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds

Compensation:

Our compensation philosophy is intentional and researched to align with average market salaries; comprehensive, generous benefits to support overall well-being; and parity with our existing and future team members. Below details the value of what our compensation package may look like, but specific details pertaining to an individual will vary.    

Salary range: $50,000-52,000 along with the potential to earn a bonus of 5% based on company performance.   

Approximate monetary value of benefits (based off an individual – dependents increase value): $22,000.
