Your questions, answered!
Biotech discovery and innovation is forever pushing the boundaries of possible, making great strides every single day in improving human health and deepening our understanding of genetics, diseases and so much more.
At LabCentral, our innovation is around how we support those entrepreneurs and researchers doing such important work. In our first decade, we expanded the network of LabCentral locations across Cambridge and Boston, growing from our original location designed for early-stage startups up to our 238 Main Street location, designed to support scaling companies. Now, with the introduction of a new AI BioHub, we are expanding our capabilities and the network of entrepreneurs we’re able to support by serving a new set of needs.
In partnership with C10 Labs, we received a $1.9 million Sector Spark grant from the state of Massachusetts, enabling us to address emerging needs in the field. We’re excited to expand our offerings and programming to support this dynamic new frontier of biotech discovery.
For context, we’re seeing an increasing number of companies coming into the LabCentral network that are using AI as part of their development and discovery methodology. In parallel, C10 Labs, an AI-focused venture studio, is seeing a growing number of program applicants and participants who need access to wet lab space and advanced scientific equipment. The demand from these two directions are clear signals that it’s time to move.
A vital part of this new AI BioHub is strategic input from industry experts. We’re honored that Anna Marie Wagner has agreed to lend her expertise and insights to this initiative as our first strategic advisor. She brings a wealth of expertise and insights from the front lines of AI-enabled life sciences, and we’re most grateful for her willingness to partner with us. We also look forward to expanding the network further to ensure that we have a broad constellation of experts in the field to guide us and support both the AI BioHub cohorts and LabCentral residents in their work.
Lastly, I’d like to extend our sincerest thanks to MassTech for underwriting our vision for the future, and to C10 Labs for their partnership. With their support and partnership, we are able to jumpstart our work nurturing this next generation of entrepreneurs while deepening our understanding of how we support these teams. We look forward to reporting back on our progress and learnings along the way.
In the meantime, if you’d like to apply to the program as a prospective cohort participant, advisor, or mentor, please fill out this application. I’m always reachable, as well.
