At What Cost  traces the energy, labor, humanity, and natural resources that go into creating the material objects of our daily lives, and how this hydra of a system built on overconsumption shapes ourselves, our societies, and our relationships to the natural world.

This multi-artist show is a curation of work in different mediums meant to inspire, challenge, and confront us (the consumers) with the elements that create and propel our consumption habits. As part of the Sustainability ERG at LabCentral, we hope At What Cost encourages thought and discussion on consumerism and imbues the viewer with an increased awareness and sense of responsibility around the part they play in this pervasive and relentless system.

In a time when our planet is literally on fire from fossil fuels, communities and ecosystems are being buried beneath discarded textiles, and plastic is overtaking our oceans and our minds - how do we view ourselves as part of this world? What role can art and creation play in our understanding of these systems?
