LabCentral Gallery 1832 Unveils 'Freedom & Form’ Exhibition
to Honor Juneteenth

Opening reception celebrates Juneteenth through art and conversation with local leaders in the arts community

Cambridge, Mass., June 12, 2025 – LabCentral, the premier Massachusetts-based network of coworking labs designed to accelerate high-potential biotech startups, celebrates Juneteenth with a new exhibit in Gallery 1832 featuring Jamaal Bonnet and Cedic E. Douglas, Laura Palmer Edwards, DaNice D Marshall, Sophia "Phia" Dubuisson and Lavaughan Jenkins.

When: June 25, 5PM-7PM at LabCental, 700 Main Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts

What: The community is invited to the opening reception and interactive panel conversation, which will be moderated by Amanda Shea, acclaimed artist, poet, and advocate. Amanda will guide a conversation with exhibiting artists around the theme Art Resistance and Restoration. Panelists include featured artists, Jamaal Bonnett, Cedic E. Douglas, Laura Palmer Edwards, DaNice D Marshall and Sophia "Phia" Dubuisson.

Through painting, mixed media, photography, and sculpture, their work explores themes of identity, resilience, liberation, and joy. Each artist brings a unique lens to the complexities of the Black experience, offering bold visual narratives that invite reflection and inspire dialogue. Together, their pieces celebrate authenticity, challenge stereotypes, and honor the ongoing pursuit of freedom and self-expression.

“Honoring Juneteenth with art and conversation offers the opportunity for reflection and engagement,” said Shazia Mir, LabCentral community and social impact strategist.  “Through the lens of visual art and community dialogue, we aim to elevate Black and Brown voices, reflect on the ongoing journey, and spotlight the resilience and joy that are central to the spirit of Juneteenth.”
